BEST GREENHOUSES FOR HIGH WINDS

TOP 3 PICKS

1. RIGA GREENHOUSE
2. GRANDIO SUMMIT
3. GRANDIO ELITE

GREENHOUSE REVIEW FINDINGS

What is the best greenhouse for high wind areas?

If we had to narrow down to three models of greenhouse for high winds we would recommend the Riga Greenhouse (any size), the Grandio Summit, or the Grandio Elite. Any of these models have plenty of strength to withstand all but the worst storms. The main thing to prevent any issues with wind gusts or sustained high winds is to make certain you follow their respective instructions and attach them to the ground correctly. That will keep them from toppling over like a tent that hasn't been staked down. And if you know a storm is on the way be sure to close up any door or windows to keep them from rattling or swinging and causing damage. Do that and you can just about guarantee your greenhouse will make it and will last for years and years.

High Wind Pick 1. Riga Greenhouse

Riga greenhouses are available in a variety of sizes from 7x7 up to 14x29. No matter what size you select you will own perhaps the strongest and most wind-resistant greenhouse you can buy. They are constructed from extremely heavy-duty materials and the "onion" shape resists winds and snow particularly well. They have panels widths from 8-16mm depending on the size. We are not aware of an official wind rating from the manufacturer, but we know they have been successfully tested in winds up to 100mph

High Wind Pick 2. Grandio Summit Greenhouse

Our next pick for areas prone to storms would be the Grandio Summit. It is available in sizes from 12x8 up to 12x32. This is the strongest model in the Grandio lineup with the thickest frame and twin-wall panels of 10mm. Included for free is the "extreme snow load kit" which adds extra support for even more wind/snow resistance. Manufacturer lists the wind rating as 76mph.

High Wind Pick 3. Grandio Elite Greenhouses

If you want an extremely wind-resistant greenhouse but are also on a tighter budget then the Grandio Elite would be our choice. It is significantly less money than the other 2 picks but gives up very little in strength. This is available in sizes from 8x8 up to 8x24 and includes twin-wall panels of 10mm thickness for very good insulation along with rigidity. Similar to the Summit, this model includes a free snow load kit which helps to reinforce the frame for snow and winds, plus there are available "frame to base brackets" which provides extra security for windy environments. Manufacturer lists the wind rating as 76mph.
